What We Consider Waste encompasses interviews, workshops, an exhibition and a website. Centered around experimenting with food waste and additives, the project aim was to establish stable substrate recipes that can be used for the construction of contemporary artworks.

Developed and presented at Dust Temple with the support of Gecko Environment Council and Gold Coast Green Week, What We Consider Waste fostered relationships between community and the environment in Currumbin, on the southern Gold Coast. Dust Temple was the platform for salvaging resources, building community connections, hosting workshops and as the venue for the final exhibition.

The aim of the project was to inspire curiosity and sustainability, and to encourage a sensitivity to materiality with the hope of adopting new relationships to nourish local economies and ecologies.
