MELISSA SPRATT
Melissa Spratt (she/her) is a textile artist who studied a Bachelor of Digital Media with Honours at Queensland College of Art majoring in Fine Art. Melissa has worked with various mediums; painting, photography, drawing and printmaking, sculpture and installation. Exploring textile and surface design elements, she works closely with yarn making techniques and is well known for her finger-knitted artworks. Melissa was recently a finalist in the 2022 Wollumbin Art Award and the BAM Art Prize, and she frequently facilitates workshops for festivals, and in libraries and schools. In 2018 Melissa was Artist in Residence at The Walls Art Space in Miami, where she had a solo exhibition. In 2019 Melissa was Artist in Residence at 11th Ave Creative in Palm Beach and was the first Artist in Residence at Relative Creative, where she collaborated on work for ‘Gold Coast City Futures Forum’. After success at The Other Art Fair Melbourne, Melissa was awarded a place at The Other Art Fair Sydney. Melissa has been the recipient of several grants, including a Regional Arts Development Fund grant for her 2021 project titled ‘SENSITISED’ comprising a body of 10 textile artworks, a print photo series and a documentary film.
