JENNA ROBERTSON

Scottish-Australian Jenna Robertson is an Opera Singer and Creative Producer based in Queensland and working across Australia. 

As a freelance soprano, Jenna has performed 12 leading operatic roles including the demanding title roles in La traviata (Opera New England, NSW), Manon and Anna Bolena (OperaBox, WA). She appeared with West Australian Opera from 2013-2016 and has worked as a soloist with the Perth Symphony Orchestra, Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Albany Chamber Orchestra and many more. In 2019, Jenna is an Associate Artist with Pacific Opera in Sydney, an Emerging Artist with Coast Opera Australia, and a principal artist in the Albany Arts Festival and Hunters Hill Music Concert Series. She is a graduate of the Opera Studio at the American Institute of Musical Studies, Graz, Austria and in 2013 won the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition – Vocal Section. 

As an arts leader, Jenna continues a journey to diversify and grow her practice. For the 2019 Albany Arts Festival, she was Creative Producer of The Opera Gala, a bespoke operatic gala combining international, national, local artists and community participation. As a successful applicant to the City of Gold Coast Producer Placement Program, Jenna worked in the Programming team for the 2019 Queensland Music Festival on Opera at Jimbour and with the Festival Directors on outcome reporting. In 2017, Jenna completed the NIDA Open Directors Studio in Sydney. 

In 2011, Jenna was a founding member of OperaBox in Perth, WA. From 2014, in addition to Chairman of the Board and Producer positions, she took a leading role in the Artistic Directorship and growth of the company, solidifying OperaBox as “an innovative and professional contributor to the WA opera scene” (Noted, 2016). Through her programming leadership “Robertson made a significant contribution to broadening the operatic repertoire for WA audiences” (Limelight Magazine, 2017). 

Jenna is also a chartered Chemical Engineer. Before choosing full-time work in the arts in 2016, she worked for a decade internationally in the resource sector where she developed her strength in leading people to deliver large and complex projects. Jenna won some of the most prestigious industry awards (CME Women in Resources Awards, Salters Institute Awards) and is a graduate of Chevron’s international Emerging Leaders Program. Jenna graduated from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh with an MEng in Chemical Engineering and received a Music Scholarship for the duration of her studies providing tuition and performance experience.
